June 2018
Life is flying by. Thanksgiving was in Florida. Christmas was in the Solomon Islands and when electricity was restored I went back to my rock for such a short stay. My family friend passed so back to Florida for another stay. Here now striving to recapture some of my artwork completed over the last 6-months.

Creativity,
like the ocean, has an ebb and flow built into it, a coming in and a going
out. This is the very thing I LOVE-- it’s on and off moments that create the
mesmerizing sounds and movements that we can't get enough of. We are the ocean, you and I. It's
okay to float and drift, to move inward and outward, to be busy and to
rest, to give and to receive. Embrace
the rhythm and know that what flows out will surely flow back.

LIVING ON ISLAND TIME
Telling time here, you quickly learn to depend on the sun rather than an electronic device for frequent power outages and surges cause clocks to run fast or not at all. Battery clocks are okay, but have no lasting power… So when the sun zaps its rays into the eyeballs, it’s time to get up. Later in the day shadows on the porch tell me it is time to read a book… So nature serves me well. I rarely have to be anywhere at a certain time for time is irrelevant to my island friends.
Telling the day and month is way more challenging. With weather that varies little – ranging from “perfect” to “outstanding” – I can’t tell whether it’s February or April and knowing the day of the week is almost impossible, especially for those of us of “a certain age.” In the States, audible clues signal the day of the week. Trash pick-up is Wednesday. The recycling truck rumbles through the neighborhood on Thursday. The condo community’s landscape crew mows on Friday. The school buses don’t run on weekends. The mail truck doesn’t come on Sunday. Here, we don’t have trash pick-up or mail delivery, so all I hear are waves, the call of the osprey, and the click of palm fronds. I only get concern when I am preparing to head back to the states. Afraid I might find that my flight was YESTERDAY or that I might miss painting en plein air on FRIDAYS!

March 2017
When was the last time you immersed
yourself in something? I mean up to your eyeballs, forget to eat, and
totally focused on ONE thing. This
seems NOT TO BE my mode of operations. I think I can juggle several things at one
time… called today multi-tasking. The most
ridiculous idea to come out of my generation (re-define as “screwing up several
things at once.) However, I still find time to paint....

March 2015
Self-taught in the art... I love the sea, people and color. I dream, create and write about what inspires me. I read Emerson... Live in the sun shine, swim in the sea, and most important drink the air.
February, 2015
Time flying by. I love the skin I am in and the journey I am on. A thinker, born in the thirties, going on eighty, living in St. Croix as a child and according to this math I am getting younger by the day. Completed my first Art Installation and showed all my clown paintings.

September, 2014
When I don’t have an original idea, I copy for I think
drawing is ever so important in developing a painting. I can draw better than I can paint. Further I find, if I work within a
specific theme, creating different moods, my creativity seems to flow. Last year I concentrated on waves. This year I just finished 4-orchid paintings
for the 10/11 Show and I am currently working on an exhibit of clowns and
balloons for a February Art Thursday show to be called “Balloon Blast”. Also I am striving to develop something for an
Art Thursday show to be called “Spring Showers bring Great Flowers. So flowers are on my list. So painting something for the community is what drive me.
