It is so special when your dive buddie is a professional photographer. Quite frankly modeling is not my thing so these photos become even more significant for Jenny got the shot with my eyes wide open!

I have a brain block when it comes to titles for my
paintings, so many of my titles are simply stolen. However, I feel a title should significantly
relate the work to a viewer. I recently
sold a piece entitled, VOLKA ON THE ROCKS
(a sail boat racing in a crashing sea).
So I am thinking the best titles should allow for free association, so
the viewer can make his own connections with the art. A single word often will do it; such as: surrender, jubilation, thunder and so it
goes
JUBILATION
THE BEAST

Wanting so to have my work celebrate the simple side of life; the pleasures of fresh cut flowers, a sea breeze, children t play, or an plein air afternoon. They are meant to delight the eye of the beholder and brighten the day of any collector. Stiring to capture the essence of a moment and make it last forever on my canvasses

Quote for the day from Ladis Nizer 1902...
"A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his brian is a craftsmanl; but a man who works with his hands, brain and heart is an ARTIST!

My trip to Dominica caused me to focus on water falls, resulting in many successful paintings. Paul is making me some frames and paintings will be on displayed at the Botanical Garden's 40th Anniversary event.

Finished a watercolor workshop and have rolled right into an acrylic for 9-sessions. This is the month that I am going to work on landscapes and flowers with a focus on shadows. Garden Stairs was created over a watercolor wash and finished up with acrylic. As to Shadows... take a look the next time you are in daylight... a white shirt's shadow is darker than a black shirt in the sunlight. Shadows are 2-values darker than the object and lighter in value as you travel away. Interesting stuff!

And here goes January! You know I just like to paint and hate the showing part, but guess it makes me finish up my work. Opening a show at Polly's Cafe on the 8th of February and I think this pair of Moko-Jumbies will be a hit.
